Born and raised in Chicago,Mike Royko(19321997) produced more than 7,500 daily columns for theChicago Tribune, theChicago Sun-Times, and theChicago Daily News. He also wrote numerous books, including the acclaimedBoss, a critical biography of Richard J. Daley and the Chicago Democratic machine. He won the Pulitzer Prize for commentary in 1972.
