Salmonella have continued to exist for more than 100 years now. Researchers and experts have been tirelessly making efforts to control salmonellae since the discovery of salmonella in 1885. A few of the known serovars are responsible for causing majority of foodborne outbreaks. While certain advancements have been made in this field, it is yet to be eliminated from developed and developing countries.
