A new drama teacher teaches two aggressive girls the art of stage combat, hoping to get them to understand the costs of violence. The girls battle out their issues in rehearsals, and as the their interest in stage combat grows, so does their interest in playing the parts of Mercutio and Tybalt in their school production ofRomeo and Juliet.
Mieko Ouchi is a playwright, actor, and director working in theatre and film/TV. Her plays, which include The Red Priest (Eight Ways To Say Goodbye), The Blue Light, The Dada Play, Nisei Blue, and I Am For You have been nominated for several awards, including the Governor General’s Literary Award for Drama. Mieko is the co-founder and current artistic director of Concrete Theatre, a nationally recognized Edmonton-based TYA touring company. Mieko lives in Edmonton.
