Doug Oster is an Emmy Award-winning producer, television host and garden writer. He is co-host/producer of The Organic Gardeners Radio Show in Pittsburgh, and is the Backyard Gardener for the Pittsburgh Post-Gazette. Doug has written three other books: Tomatoes Garlic Basic; Grow Organic; and A Gardener's Notebook: Life With My Garden.
In 2009, Doug Oster won an Emmy Award for writing, producing and hosting  the one-hour PBS documentaryThe Gardens of Pennsylvania.
