Romany Remedies and Recipes was written by Gipsy Petulengro. Formally called Xavier Petulengro, the author was a British Romanichal horse trader, businessman, broadcaster, violinist and writer, known to most as the King of the Gypsies. Romany Remedies was Petulengros first published work (1935), which he followed two years later with his autobiography. It was enormously successful, and helped ensure his reputation as a fount of traditional knowledge. This book contains an author biography, briefly detailing Petulengros life, as well as a preface and thematic chapters. The chapters deal individually with remedies, ointments, embrocations and liniments, recipes remedies for kiddies and even remedies for the family pet too. It also contains knowledge on fishing and poaching as well as delicious recipes for the fruits of your labour.
