This book is devoted to the scientific legacy of Professor Victor Ambartsumian one of the distinguished scientists of the last century. He obtained very essential results not only in astrophysics, but also in mathematics and theoretical physics. One can recall his fundamental results concerning the Sturm-Liouville inverse problem, quantum field theory, structure of atomic nuclei etc. Nevertheless, his revolutionary ideas in astrophysics and corresponding results are known more widely and have predetermined the further development of this science. The concept about the activity phenomena and objects evolution, particularly, determination of the age of our Galaxy, ideas about the stars formation nowadays in stellar associations, the activity of galactic nuclei appeared to be exceptionally fruitful. These directions are being elaborated at many astronomical centers all over the world.Devoted to the scientific legacy of Professor Victor Ambartsumian, this book recounts and builds on his revolutionary ideas in astrophysics and corresponding results, and shows how these ideas are in use in astronomical centers worldwide.V.A.Ambartsumian: A Life in Science (the Editorial Board of the Journal Astrofizika and V.A.Ambartsumian Byurakan Astrophysical Observatory.- Plasma Diagnostic of Planetary Nebulae (A.F.Kholtygin).- On the Jubilee of Academician V.A.Ambartsumian Statistical Mechanics of Stellar Systems: From Ambartsumian Onward (L.P.Ossipkov).- Ambartsumians Methods in the Theory of Radiative Transfer (A.G.Nikoghossian).- Multiple Light Scattering: Mean Number of Scatterings and Related Problems (V.V.Ivanov).- Stellar Associations (A.T.Kalloghlian).- Star Formation and Molecular Clouds (A.L.Gyulbudaghian).- Ambartsumians Paradigm for the Activity of Galactic Nuclei and the Evolution of Galaxies (H.A.Harutyunian).- V.A.Ambartsumian and the Statistics of Flaring Objects (A.A.Akopian and E.S.Parsamian).- Rotating Superdense Configurations: Pulsars and Their AstrophysicalC
