Sir Cyril Fox (1882-1967) was an influential archaeologist during the golden years of 20th-century archaeology. This volume includes facsimiles and transcribed text of two of his notebooks, a `Lecturette' and other unpublished notes. His notebooks (1927-30 and 1932) record some of his survey work and excavation of Offa's Dyke and the techniques he employed. The `Lecturette' on the short dykes of Montgomeryshire was given to a Miss L F Chitty in 1929. Further unpublished notes and descriptions include Fox's description of Tallard's Marsh near Chepstow and his visit to four Welsh museums. Fox's notes are accompanied by comparative material and aerial photographs where appropriate.Sir Cyril Fox (1882-1967) was an influential archaeologist during the golden years of 20th-century archaeology.
