Joseph Priestley (1733-1804)—practicing scientist, materialist philosopher and Unitarian theologian—was one of the giants of the Enlightenment. These two volumes present Priestley's unfinished autobiography and his correspondence. Many of these letters are addressed to Priestley's fellow Unitarians Theophilus Lindsey and Thomas Belsham, but they are by no means confined to religious topics.
