Pineapple is grown widely in tropics and sub-tropics. Lack of planting material is one of the constraints of pineapple cultivation in the world. This is because the rate of propagation is slow in conventional propagation. 'Smooth Cayenne' typically produces few propagules per plant per year hence it would take years to plant one hectare from a single plant. As a result, it is difficult to fulfill the demand for planting material. This has forced pineapple growers to make effort for rapid propagation techniques such as tissue culture. With plant tissue culture, it is possible to produce thousands of planting materials rapidly. However, the tissue culture techniques have still several drawbacks. Therefore, looking for alternative propagation methods that leads to better multiplication rate and that can be used by smallholders will have a practical importance in addressing pineapple production constraints. As a result, different production techniques have been implemented throughout the world to fulfill the demand. Specifically, in this book investigation result of different rapid propagation method of pineapple using project crown and stem cuttings are reported.
