This book seeks to clarify and demonstrate the incalculable and injurious influence that progressive education has had and is having upon preaching, thinking Christianly, and the local church. Progressive education began at the turn of the twentieth century, replacing classical education with what is purportedly a science-based education, which necessarily results in scientism. This seismic shift in public education has not only affected what we learn but how we think. In order to enable the church to detect progressivism's deleterious sway and protect herself by being equipped with the progressive revelation of God, and thereby counter the influence of progressive education of man, I seek to highlight some of the underlying intolerable essentials of progressive education. In the companion book to this one, The Equipping Church: Somewhere Between Fundamentalism and Fluff, I explain the biblical model for the local church and how to build such a church. Ronnie Rogers is one of America's most intellectually and biblically adept pastors when it comes to offering an incisive critique and corrective to the malaise of Evangelical churches. In this book, Rogers deftly identifies progressive education's deleterious and toxic effects upon the modern church. He not only diagnoses the malady, but like a skilled physician, offers the needed remedy. Solidly based in an understanding of the current educational philosophy of the day as well as biblical theology, Rogers' book is one I hope every pastor will read and heed. --David L. Allen, Southwestern Baptist Theological Seminary The rapidly changing currents of culture are often met by credulity or else confusion within the contemporary church. In this book, Rogers offers a penetrating analysis of our public discourse and present intellectual climate, all with a view toward reviving the church's voice and influence in American society. Clairvoyant and timely, this is a book worth reading closely. --Benjamin R. Wilson, Mool£x
